Italy finally has its own event for composite materials: “Composite Future” is debuting from 9 to 12 June, a showcase for the increasingly complex world of composite materials and the tools for their processing. This is a world that more “traditional” technologies have been interacting with for some time now.
This was the starting point for the project strongly promoted by the organizers of the international exhibitions Xylexpo, technologies for the wood and furniture industries, and Plast, an event addressed to the segments of plastic materials and rubber. From the idea to the involvement of Assocompositi, the association representing the Italian companies of this supply chain, it was a quick step leading to the creation of “Matec-materiali e tecnologie”, a showcase that contains three events dedicated to the manufacturing industry, a unified exhibition route built around shared processes, methods and technologies.
For the first time, Hall 18 at FieraMilano-Rho is hosting the companies that have decided to take part in this project, exhibitors that are actually marking a new trail. This direction has also been taken by Xylexpo and Plast, knowing that the trade fair landscape must enter a new phase, totally different from the past.
“It’s a responsibility and a great satisfaction being able to give voice – also through an exhibition - to companies dealing with innovative materials”, said Roberto Frassine, professor of Material Science and Technology at the Milan Polytechnic and president of Assocompositi since its foundation in 2005. “Sharing this experience with the worlds of plastics and wood means looking into the future of the industry from a new perspective. We are confident that this premiere will not fail to present new opportunities”.
The new keyword is multimateriality, a concept that is now almost taken for granted and that will be illustrated not only in the exhibition areas of Matec, but also and mostly in the dense, variegated and dynamic agenda of events organized by Composites Future, including a morning session with in-depth presentations inside the Xylexpo Arena, complemented by a demo area featuring events, meetings and demonstrations in the afternoon, from 2.30 to 5 p.m., on June 10, 11 and 12.
