Valencia, 19 February 2024.- Professionals visiting the keenly anticipated 40th edition of FIMMA + Maderalia from 14th to 17th this coming May will be able to see what carpentry is all about live and in real time. An innovative demonstration space, aptly named ‘La Carpintería’(“The Carpenter’s Workshop”) is being set up where students on carpentry-related courses and their teachers will demonstrate how kit furniture is made.
‘La Carpintería’ is set to be one of the major attractions of the upcoming edition of FIMMA + Maderalia. Whilst the initiative was conceived by the fair organisers, it is being supported by the Asociación de Profesores y Profesoras de Madera y Mueble, PROFEMADERA (Woodworking and Furniture Making Teachers Association), and by exhibitors, who will be supplying materials, equipment and machinery so that the demonstrations are as realistic a as possible.
The idea is to create a carpenter’s workshop where, for the two days the fair is running, students and teachers will work on building pieces of furniture for fitting out a play centre. In line with the RSC’s policy, the items will be donated to an NGO afterwards.
The aim is to show the latest innovations in processes that are being developed in today’s carpenter’s workshops, and to make the industry aware of the importance of giving future woodworking professionals the training and skills they need.

The workshop is not the only activity this highly proactive professional educators’ association will be involved in: PROFEMADERA will again have its own stand in this next edition of FIMMA + Maderalia.
Every day, the stand will become a point of reference and a hub for teachers, students and professionals visiting the fair, and the design for this next one was chosen from eleven submitted for the national competition PROFEMADERA launched.
The winning design, which will be built at FIMMA + Maderalia, is by the team at IES Cotes Baixes, in Alcoi, and is titled ‘Roble’ (‘Oak’). The stand has been designed to be arched, based on the curvature of tree bark, whilst the details of how the materials are put together, and the routing, give the setting a very natural feel.
