MATEC, A PROJECT THAT LOOKS INTO THE FUTURE

A cross-industry format, presenting new ways of meeting and discussing for different segments of the manufacturing industry; a project that brings together wood and furniture, plastics and rubber, composite materials, possibly expanding its scope further in the future.
Here’s to you “MaTec-materiali e tecnologie”, a big spring event dedicated to the manufacturing industry that represents a turning point, creating new opportunities, relations and connections between industries that are getting closer and closer each day.

Today more than ever, industry exhibitions need new formulas: the strong growth of new ways to relate demand and supply – originating from the disruptive event of Covid 19 – is forcing new decisions, bringing new breadth, contents and motivations to industry-specific events. The organizers of Xylexpo, the international biennial exhibition of technologies for wood and furniture, and Plast, the trade fair dedicated to plastics and rubber, have partnered to present a different approach, a new reference for the processing industry, a project that also involves composite materials through Composites Future, the made-in-Italy expo and conference that is making its debut at MaTec 2026.

“The combination of different materials in the same product is a proven experience in both design and construction”, said Dario Corbetta, Xylexpo director.

“For a few decades already, the machinery and equipment for wood and wood-based materials have been increasingly deployed in other industries, responding to a demand of solutions revolving around multimateriality. With the friends of Plast and Assocompositi, the association representing the companies of this industry, we decided to walk this path together. This decision opens new opportunities, collaborations and synergies that have become indispensable”.

“We decided to offer a new experience, putting visitor satisfaction in the forefront, involving them – possibly for the first time ever – in a context that is no longer dedicated to a single topic, but really open to new experiences and contamination”, added Mario Maggiani, Plast exhibition manager. “With one ticket, a variegated audience of industry professionals will have the opportunity to meet suppliers of technologies and materials for the wood and furniture, plastic and rubber, shipbuilding, aerospace, automotive and construction industries, to mention only a few sectors represented at MaTec. A tightly knit network of options that we expect will generate new opportunities…”
