Suhlendorf, Hanover. On April 2, 2019, the Innovation Prize of the Privatbahn Magazine was awarded for the first time as part of the HANNOVER MESSE. The award-winning products are all connected to the environment. Whether it's about recycling, noise protection or efficient use of energy, responsible use of resources is the key.

The following products and companies have been awarded:
The EURODUAL from Stadler and the Havelländische Eisenbahn offers a maximum of energy efficiency, performance and reliability. The powerful locomotive is designed to pass European corridors at high speed.
The rCE Powerpack from Molinari Rail AG / Railcare AG makes it possible to cool or temper food and other goods in rail transport with kinetic energy instead of fuel. The energy comes directly from the train and reduces CO2-emissions by 75 percent.
Manually connected and disconnected screw couplings with draw hooks and side buffers are still common in European rail freight transport. A new alternative is the Automatic Freight Carriage F11 of Voith.
The STRAILastic "mini noise barrier" helps to fight sound where it originates: close to the rail. The 1800 mm wide sound insulation elements are attached to the threshold and therefore it will guarantee a secure and lasting hold.
The MTU Hybrid PowerPack® has been further developed from the previous MTU underfloor drive. The hybrid concept consists of a modular system with various drive elements.

The special prize this year went to the Innovative Freight Car, which was developed by order of the Federal Ministry of Transport, VTG and DB Cargo. The aim of the project was to use existing components and technologies of vehicle technology to design, build and test new, innovative freight wagons. This project should serve to speed up the future use of quieter, more energy efficient and at the same time more economical freight wagons. The results will be presented in the mid of April in Berlin.
During the ceremony, Günther Alsdorf was awarded with a medal for his life's work. From 1997 to mid-2017, Günther Alsdorf, managing director of the Osthavelländische Eisenbahn AG in Spandau, developed today's Havelländische Eisenbahn (HVLE) and its subsidiaries. Today he is one of the two managing directors of the railway technology Campus Havelland (BTC-Havelland).
Peter Hoop from the “Service Manufaktur für den Schienenverkehr” (SEMA) from Celle was also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Medal.
