SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN kicked off

The 20th SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN trade fair kicked off today at Messe Essen with over 800 exhibitors from 44 countries. As the world's leading trade fair for joining, cutting, and surfacing, it showcases the entire spectrum of key technologies for industry and trade.

Highlights of the first day of the fair included:

  • The start of the DVS national competition “Jugend schweißt” (Youth Welding). Young welders from all over Germany demonstrate their skills in four processes: TIG, MAG, gas and manual metal arc welding. Tomorrow, the workpieces will undergo pressure testing (3:30 p.m., Galeria), followed by the award ceremony on Wednesday (2 p.m., DVS, booth 3A23).
  • The “Connecting Continents” lecture series in the new Future Hub with presentations from Morocco, Brazil, China, and Slovakia, which focused on international cooperation.

You can look forward to these additional program items:

  • From tomorrow through Wednesday, the DVS Congress will accompany SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN in the Congress Center West, bringing together science and research with practical application.
  • The International Welding Competition starts on Wednesday with participants from twelve countries. India is taking part for the first time with an all-female team. The winners of the individual and team competitions among young welders from all over the world will be decided on Thursday. The award ceremony will take place on Friday.
  • Starting today, trade visitors can vote for their favorite digital innovation at SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN. A total of 21 exhibitors have submitted their innovations for the 1st IF Digital Award. The public can vote via the SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN app until Friday. The bronze, silver, and gold awards will be presented on Friday at 1 p.m. at the IndustryFusion Foundation booth in Hall 6.
