EMO Hannover 2019 - the world's leading trade fair for metalworking - was held under the motto "Smart technologies driving tomorrow's production!”. The UNITED GRINDING Group also dedicated itself to this motto at the EMO. The Group not only presented its customers machine innovations, but also, for the first time, its digital assistance systems and services for Industry 4.0 at a special exhibition area.

In addition to numerous customers and trade visitors, the German Federal Minister for Transport and Digital Affairs, Andreas Scheuer, also expressed his interest and visited the UNITED GRINDING stand during the opening tour on the first day of the fair. He was welcomed at the booth by Stephan Nell, CEO of UNITED GRINDING Group, who introduced him to the world of UNITED GRINDING Digital SolutionsTM.

umati - a common machine language unites
For "Connectivity" the universal machine tool interface umati plays a special role. Thanks to this interface, which was developed by the VDW with the participation of the UNITED GRINDING Group, a safe and simple integration of various machine tools into the customer's IT ecosystem is possible. UNITED GRINDING proved in its showcase how easy integration is possible and equipped 14 machines with the umati interface. In addition, several machines from other manufacturers were integrated into UNITED GRINDING Digital SolutionsTM products via the umati interface.
Simple operation for CNC machines
In the "Usability" area, UNITED GRINDING gives an insight into how simple the user guidance of future human-machine interfaces can look. Operation is intuitive, similar to the user interfaces of modern smartphones.
Everything at a glance
How busy are the machines and how efficient are they? Are there machine downtimes and when is the next scheduled maintenance due? In order to answer such and similar questions easily and quickly, the UNITED GRINDING Production Monitor and the UNITED GRINDING Service Monitor show the most important parameters of the machine clearly and at a glance - also mobile via app.
In the new customer portal of the UNITED GRINDING Group, which was presented as a pilot at EMO, the customer has all important data about his machines and service orders at a glance and can conveniently contact UNITED GRINDING online if required.
New machines briefly presented
In addition to digital solutions, the Group presents a number of new machines. The PLANOMAT XT surface and profile grinding machine from BLOHM was a world premiere. It offers special advantages for machining high-quality workpieces with high repeat accuracy over a long service life.
The MFP 30 5-axis grinding centre, MÄGERLE's most compact machine, has been specially developed for grinding complex geometries, such as those found in guide vanes, rotor blades and heat shields of aircraft turbines.
The universal CNC cylindrical grinding machines S31 and S33 from STUDER can play off their advantages when machining small to large workpieces in individual, small and large series production.
